In London you can swim in a former church

The swimming pool of the “Virgin Active” Health Club in Manor Road (Repton Park), in the north suburbs of London, has the uniqueness of being located inside a deconsecrated church, built in 1893.

The complex, in full Victorian Gothic style, belonged to the Claybury Hospital which looked after psychiatric patients. About 20 years ago the structure – still in full shape and kept up to date – was renovated and adapted to a wellness center, complete with an exercise bikes, sauna, gym equipments, whirlpools and above all a splendid 25-meter heated swimming pool built underneath the main nave of the church, where at the time there were benches for the prayers.
